The trout bite has really picked up at Los Vaqueros

The trout bite has really picked up at Los Vaqueros with the stabilized weather continued aggressive planting program.  I trolled Cox, Howden, and East Coves with very favorable results.  A total of six Lassen trout were caught ranging from 2 pounds with thew largest at 3.3 pounds, (photo below).  In addition two very nice fish were lost at the side of the boat as the came unpinned.  The Rapala J-9 lure was the successful lure top lining all day.  The fish were caught in the 20’-30’ water columns in Howden and East Coves.  The weather conditions were perfect and the surface water temperature ranged 55’ - 56’.
Another great fishing experience at Los Vaqueros Reservoir!

We then switched to Mooselook Wobblers and a Little Cleo trolled in the same manner. Still nothing! No bites. We traversed Heron Bay, Swallow Bay, the Narrows, the Marina...... Read More
