The water level rose 12 percent of capacity, and anglers reported fair fishing

Lake Kaweah - CA (Tulare County)

by Chad Burton and Chris Borden

The water level rose 12 percent of capacity, and anglers reported fair fishing. Bass fell for nearly “dead stick” finesse baits in 20 to 40 feet of water. Neko rigs, C-rigs, and drop shot in brown, dark green, and black&blue worked for bites. The key has been to locate schools of bass on the electronics and fire them up with continued presentations. Spoons have been effective down to 60’ deep. Points and ledges have also been good places to locate biting fish. Catfish anglers soaked chicken liver, dip bait and cut baits, and crappie anglers fooled fish with minijigs, small swimbaits, and live minnows after locating schools in deeper water. There’s a trout plant scheduled for the week of the 18th.
