Trinity River Salmon Guides Spring Salmon Report

Salmon fishing on the Trinity River is starting to really improve for chrome bright Chinook salmon. Most salmon are averaging 8 to 12 pounds with an occasional 15 to to 20 pound salmon being taken from Lewiston, Ca. downriver to Willow Creek, Ca. Angler\'s are allowed two salmon per day at this time. Trinity river water releases are still dropping and more Trinity River Spring salmon are showing everyday as reported by Trinity river salmon fishing guides. The Trinity River flows will soon be 450 cfs and remain there through September. Some really nice steelhead are mixed in as well with most being wild and being released. Backboucing roe or sidedrifting bait has been best bet for Trinity river salmon. Fishing will improve and should last through July 2009. Two of our clients boated two nice Spring salmon to 11 pounds on Wednesday on the Trinity River. We were able to boat one to three salmon per outing this past week. All salmon were taken on backbounced roe above Del Loma, Ca. Barbless hooks are required and all wild steelhead must be released. Salmon and steelhead report cards are required to fish this system for either salmon or steelhead and report cards must be filled out prior to the start of a anglers fishing day.
