Good numbers of sturgeon are the story on the Sacramento River, according to Richard Peeples at the Tackle Box in Chico. "There are lots of sturgeon being caught from Ord Bend to Knight's Landing", said Peeples. "About 60-percent of them are legal size, and there are also some oversize fish. Best baits have been ghost shrimp and fresh eel, and most of the fish are being caught during daytime hours."

Peeples added, "A few stripers in the three to five pound range are starting to bite at Butte City. Most are being caught at night on anchovies."
