The Eagle Lake Trout are transitioning to deeper water. We are getting most of our fish trolling spoons:

On the east side from Ronald McDonalds to Miner’s Bay and on the west side from Shrimp Island down to Wildcat Point. Bright colors are catching the fish; red/gold, yellow/orange and green/red. Trolling from 12-22 feet deep are our most productive depths.

The “keeper” Eagle Lake Trout are running from 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 lbs. We are also releasing a fair number of fat, 14-15 inchers. Our biggest fish this past week was 3lbs, 7 oz. That fish hit a red/gold spoon trolled at 15 feet deep off Shrimp Island. The bite is not red hot but if you stay with it, you can pull limits in a morning of fishing. Move around, ask questions, and watch the nets on the other boats. I get a lot of intel after I’m done on the water, AT THE FISH CLEANING STATION. I am not a shy person.

Whether you are fishing with me or not, don’t hesitate to contact me for a fishing report or help with lodging, RV space, or camping.
