Current Water Conditions

Flows on the Little Truckee River have bumped up between Stampede and Boca and are currently running around 90 CFS. Watch for changing flows as it seems like they have released more water into the river recently. Browns are in their spawning stage right now. There is no indication flows will stay this high before winter, but keep an eye on it and there might be some opportunities to get out on the Little Truckee before winter. It is still recommended to give this fishery a break for now and look for greener pastures.

Water Temperatures

Water temps are averaging in the low 50s°F.

Hatches

Mostly midges and blue-winged olives.

Effective Tactics

With the browns in their spawning stage and the fish exhausted from a busy summer season here, river anglers should focus their efforts on the Truckee River or elsewhere instead.

Catch Report

Most of the fish are hanging around the inlet to Boca Reservoir. Fish the Truckee River instead for more bites.
