Shasta Lake brown and rainbow trout fishing has been up and down so far this spring. I have been all over the lake the past few weeks and the trout bite has been the same, no spot has been hotter than another. I have been trolling a lot of water for my fish. Yesterday, was the best Brown of the year so far, a 6 pound 7 ounce piggy, caught and released while trolling a trout plug at 30 feet and 2.7 mph. Caught 4 more Browns 2 on spoons an 2 on plugs. The fish quality has been getting better. Fishing will continue to improve as the fish head to main bodies of lake to feed on shad.
