Success Lake rose to 14 percent of capacity, and anglers reported fair fishing. Biting bass have been holding deeper in the water column and spider jigs, finesse baits, and spoons have been pulling them in. Drop shot, Ned rigs, and Texas rigged four inch baits in Ox Blood and Aaron’s Magic worked to fool the tight lipped largemouth. Anglers also used their electronics to locate small schools of bass as deep as 50 feet. Dropping blade baits, tail spinners, and Krocodiles worked for some decent fish. Catfish picked up cut baits and chicken liver in deeper water, and crappie were reported near the marina by kayak anglers using small swimbaits and minijigs.
