Fresh Salmon Galore at Golden State Salmon Association July 23 Fundraiser

San Francisco - The Golden State Salmon Association (GSSA) joins forces with West Marin’s William Tell House Restaurant and Inn on July 23 for an afternoon of BBQ’d salmon and fresh seasonal side dishes. Proceeds will go to support GGSA’s work restoring salmon.

The event will be held at the William Tell House on Highway One in the West Marin town of Tomales with two seatings; the first at noon, the second at 4pm. 

Fresh local caught California king salmon will anchor the event as a grilled salmon main dish. 

The event is supporting GSSA’s work to keep salmon in California’s future, a task made more important by the current drought.

GSSA has continued to play a major role through the drought, working with the state to maximize survival of this year’s baby salmon with Bay releases. This work is already paying off by helping to keep the fishery going through some trying times and securing a future for salmon fishermen and women in California.

John McManus, president of GSSA said, “We’re looking forward to coming together for a very special culinary experience with some of nature’s finest foods and to support GSSA’s long-term goal of rebuilding the salmon runs that support coastal and inland communities.”

Seatings are 12 noon to 3pm and 4pm to 7pm.  Tickets are $100 per seat ($50 for kids under 12) and are available by calling 855-251-GGSA (4472) or by visiting here.

Wine and beer are included in the ticket price (cocktails for purchase). The event will also include several incredible prizes to be raffled off.

The Golden Gate Salmon Association is a coalition of salmon advocates that includes commercial and recreational salmon fisherman, businesses, restaurants, a native tribe, environmentalists, elected officials, families and communities that rely on salmon. 

GGSA’s mission is to restore California salmon for their economic, recreational, commercial, environmental, cultural and health values.

Currently, California’s salmon industry is valued at $1.4 billion in economic activity annually in a regular season and about half that much in economic activity and jobs again in Oregon. The industry employs tens of thousands of people from Santa Barbara to northern Oregon. This is a huge economic bloc made up of commercial fishermen, recreational fishermen (fresh and salt water), fish processors, marinas, coastal communities, equipment manufacturers, the hotel and food industry, tribes, and the salmon fishing industry at large.
