Shad anglers are having fun on the Sacramento River, reported Richard Peeples at the Tackle Box in Chico. "The shad fishing is good from Scotty's on down", said Peeples. "Folks are getting about 15 fish in an afternoon, and around 15-percent of them are the larger females up to four pounds. Best lure has been a red one-thirty-second-ounce leadhead with a chartreuse tail.'

Peeples tipped, "Some keeper stripers are also being caught as far up as Scotty's. A few larger ones to 12 pounds are hitting on plugs, and smaller legals are hitting on anchovies."
