Today we fished Whiskeytown Lake, starting at first light.  Moon phase isnt really a consideration when fishing Kokanee, but with a slower bite over all this year, I hoped it wouldn't hurt the morning bite.  The afternoon bite has been pretty slim so getting into fish early is important if you hope to fill the ice chest with limits of Kokanee.  Well, the morning bite was good as expected, and had it not been for several lost fish, we would have limited pretty early.  As expected, we saw a slower bite into the afternoon hours but managed to scratch out 2 limits for todays clients, Gerri and Randy.  Pink was our hot color and one rod seemed to take most of the fish today.  The Trinidad Tackle 6" UV dodger with a pink PLine Sunrise squid trailing did the most damage again today.  My Kokanee baits dont go into the water without Pautzke Fire Corn and today was no exception.  I added some garlic scent to todays corn and it was on point!  Most of our fish came from 45'-65', all in the Whiskey Creek arm.  I'm beginning to doubt that we'll have a wide open bite like we've had the past few years, but we're catching some really nice Kokanee and that makes the long days worthwhile.
