Over the weekend Nick Lynch and I fished the Future Pro Delta Shoot Out. It was a grind to say the least. The first day was from 1-7 pm and day two was 6-12 am. The conditions day one were in coming tide and windy. We started out throwing top water and reaction with a little success, enough to put a small limit in the boat. We decided to run main channel banks and work our way back to Stockton throwing reaction baits. Our couple of bigger bites came on the River2sea biggie papa in the real perch color at the top of the tide. The Falcon bucoo deep runner rod was key to keeping the crankbait fish pinned, the biggest going just over 6 1/2lbs. We finished the day with just over 16lbs. Day two we felt confident we could produce around the same weight with the same pattern. Unfortunately the next day the fish seemed to be completely missing the top water baits and unwilling to chase down the crankbait. We only had two fish by 11am and went in to survival mode. We flipped senkos and drop shotted the in side weed lines on the tail end of the out going tide for the last hour. We were able to squeak out a limit for a little over 10lbs. We dropped from 9th to 21st place. Hope this helps and good luck out there!
