You’ll want to add Collins Lake to your list of places to go during the holidays!! As you will see the fishing is incredible thanks to the generous Fall Plants of huge trophy trout along with lots of great “action” at the bank or in the boats!! The Slow Trollers Fishing Club returned and hooked some massive trout ranging in size up to 7 pounds! That 7 pound monster was caught by Richard Minor. The club had six boats in the water, trolling Rapalas and they caught and released 18 Bass. They landed 21 Rainbows as well, Manny Castro with a 6 lb. 4 oz. trout , Al Deabel took a 5 lb. 8 oz. trout & a 5 lb. trout for Lou Altomar.

Eric & Ryan Griesa hooked a 6 lb. 8 oz. Catfish and sent us a nice photo saying a worm is what he used down by the dam. Eileen Richardson trolled a worm on a flasher and hooked a 4 lb. 8 oz. Rainbow. James Simao from Lincoln trolled with worms and a dodger also and caught three Rainbows with the biggest weighing in at 4-1/2 lb.

Reece Airehart from Yuba City caught a huge 6 lb. Rainbow on a Rapala which he trolled near the dam. Addison Seino from Y. City fished from shore with green PowerBait and landed three trout and his (biggest was a 3 lb. 8 oz. Rainbow). Riley & Mike Ernst also fished with PowerBait but their color was orange and their biggest out of three was 4 lb. 8 oz.

Simon Ramsubhag from Sacramento caught his 5 lb. 8 oz. trout on chartreuse PowerBait from the shoreline down by the dam. Jacob Dyer trolled his gold Kastmaster right down the channel and netted himself a 3 pound Rainbow! A couple of days earlier Jacob and John Dyer from Ukiah hooked a nice 2 lb. 12 oz. trout trolling near the dam.

Orville & Cameron Chatterton from Loomis had a great day of trout fishing, taking four home for supper. Noah from Auburn fished with PowerBait near the ramp and picked up a couple of trout.

Fish plant #2 (1,800 lbs.) arrived Thursday evening, just in time for a weekend getaway or day fishing trip to one of the few lakes in Northern California that is still open for fishing!!! Our plan for our Fall Trout Planting Program has not changed even though our lake is very low. You’re going to have to walk a little further to the water’s edge if fishing from shore, good news is the fish are much more concentrated in...... Read More
