Trout Fishing
Use the sliding sinker rig and night crawlers or powerbait works good also. Using a lure is also working well right now fish with a fire-tiger kast-master or rapala J-7.

Catfishing
Fishing for catfish is best by the boat launch. There is a lot of catfish that seem to be hungry. Many catfish are being caught by trout fishermen. To increase chance of catching a catfish use stinky bait like chicken livers or anchovies.

Bass Fishing
The bite is still on for the bass fishermen. Top spots are the Rock wall, Sather Canyon and near the Main Rec. Throw shad colored spinner baits or drop shot robo worms.

Fish Tales

Jamie Banks of Hercules caught 5 catfish 3 of them weighing 1ole using bait z-man, chatterbait and kast master in the preserve on Saturday 5-23-15.

John Keil, Stacey Saetern, Peter Saechao and Tony Trong of San Jose caught 7 catfish 3 of them weighing over 15 lbs in scow canyon using sardines and night crawlers on Monday 5-25-15.

Jake Swain of Dublin caught a 9lb trout using a fire tiger rapala close to the Berkeley tower on Monday 5-25-15.

Yvette, Mario and Felipe caught a trout using mice tails at sandy point on Monday 5-25-15. This was Mario’s first time catching a fish now he is hooked.

Flor Montero of Oakland caught a trout on Monday 5-25-15.

James Stoker of San Rafeal caught 3 trout while trolling stringer weighing 6.15 lbs on Thursday 5-28-15.

Dave Hanis of San Pablo caught 3 trout the largest weighing 9.5 lbs using power-bait at the Main rec on Friday 5-29-15.

Azmach Ejersn of Emeryville caught 5 trout the largest weighing 8.3 lbs using powerbait.

Derby

The Main Rec is holds a monthly trout derby. The largest three trout weight in for that month get prizes. It $5 to enter the derby. You must buy your ticket before fishing that day.

Park Information

The San Pablo Reservoir Recreation Area is now open for the season with the hours during May being 6:30 am to 7:30 pm and boats need to be off the water by 6:00 pm. The Boat Launch area is open 7 days a week with snacks, drinks and tackle available. The Café is also open 6 days of the week from 9:00 - 3:30 so visitors can get some delicious food.

Trout Fishing: Fishing for trout is best at Sandy Point and at the Main Rec. and at the Launch since we started planting down there Fish power-bait or night crawlers off the bottom. Trolling was good between the Main Rec and the launch on the right hand side using about 1/2 ounce weight and letting your line out about 75ft.
