Fishing has been steady at the reservoir. There's been an afternoon bite on the Southend of the lake where fisherman have been catching catfish. The best bait is still the chicken livers for catfish and the nightcrawlers for trout. The bass are starting to spawn and so are being caught in shallow waters. One of our rangers has seen them right around the pedal boat dock next to our visitor center. Catfish, trout and bass are all still being caught. A local fisherman came back on 5-5-13 with 2 catfish and 3 trout from the southend with the biggest catch being the 6lb catfish. On April 30, Department of Fish & Game planted 2000 lbs of rainbow trout into the lake. The next trout plant will be 1000lbs from Mt. Lassen (10% trophy size) and is scheduled for the week of May 6.
