Another beautiful week of weather only to be stopped by great fishing. Thunderstorms were predicted but stayed high over Hwy. 80 in the Reno area and you could see the lightning in the distance as you looked north. But I guess the system was a bit late as the clouds are building again. Big fish for the week were Rick Caplan of Santa Clarita caught a 4lb 3oz Alpers on a trout teaser out of Little Virginia. Overall fishing has been great, and sensational if you know what you are doing. The Granite Bay Flycasters hit Big Virginia on their annual outing using their best management flies, thanks Tom, Art, Michael and the group. Lures for the week were red/silver Kastmaster, red/gold Bouyant, small daredevil, silver Bouyants and small "lil Jake".

Bait used were baby crawlers, night crawlers, crickets, and orange power worms on #20. Flies getting tugs were olive flashy body woolies, olive leeches, small emergers, yellow sally's, wiggle tails, and Rickard's Stillwater nymph. Good action on mosquitoes, grey hackle yellow's, grey hackle peacock's, Adams female, grizzly Adams, naked olive elk hair caddis. Few clouds building today, but nothing in the way of moisture, just cooling it slightly but still very comfortable for sleeveless T's. See you on the water.

Virginia Lakes Resort is located near the top of Conway Summit between Mono Lake and Bridgeport, CA. We have everything you need to enjoy the Eastern Sierra. Check out our WEBSITE.

Spectacular weather was like the "cherry on top" great mount of fishing. There were a few complaints that some people were not catching, but you can always attribute that to not wanting to change old habits and using the newer baits and techniques. Overall fishing was terrific. Lures for the week were silver/blue Kastmaster, gold Bouyant, red/gold Bouyants, silver phoebe, gold Super Duper's and Tasmanian devils (blue). Bait, the wonderful wiggly crawlers, garden worms, power worms in pink and natural, power bait in Chartreuse glitter,...... Read More
