Spectacular weather was like the "cherry on top" great mount of fishing. There were a few complaints that some people were not catching, but you can always attribute that to not wanting to change old habits and using the newer baits and techniques. Overall fishing was terrific. Lures for the week were silver/blue Kastmaster, gold Bouyant, red/gold Bouyants, silver phoebe, gold Super Duper's and Tasmanian devils (blue).

Bait, the wonderful wiggly crawlers, garden worms, power worms in pink and natural, power bait in Chartreuse glitter, pink plain, and plain yellow. Flies for the loop chasers were black caddis, tan and yellow emergers and some flashy body olive wooly buggers. Backcountry lakes are doing well on small spinners, small dry flies, and worms.

Big fish for the week:
Betty Stetzl of Paso Robles 4lbs 7oz on power worm Little Virginia
Brennan Jividen of Lodi, 4lbs 8oz on a Bouyant out of Big Virginia
Justin Palutzke of La Palma 2lbs 3oz on a worm, Little Virginia
Taylor Carnevale age 12 of Granada Hills 2lbs 13oz on power bait.

Virginia Lakes Resort is located near the top of Conway Summit between Mono Lake and Bridgeport, CA. We have everything you need to enjoy the Eastern Sierra. Check out our WEBSITE.

Ice fishing opening weekend produced a lot of fish from both Big and Little Virginia and the weather held until May 1st. Summer has had a hard time breaking through due to continual cold fronts hitting California during most of May. To date I've seen the sun for a total of 9 days. Longest winter on record. Today was the first day of summer thanks to her Majesty "Mother Nature". Fishing has been great but catching...... Read More
