Starkweather Lake - Mammoth Lakes, CA

Lake Information

Fish Species: Rainbow Trout, Brook Trout
Starkweather Lake, the smaller of the two spring-fed lakes in the Reds Meadow Valley, is a productive trout fishery in Madera County, primarily targeting rainbow trout. It is regularly stocked and considered more productive for fishing than Sotcher Lake. Easy access makes it a favorite for float-tube anglers. Stealth is paramount for success due to its clear water. Optimal fishing coincides with major and minor bite times and early morning/late evening hours, particularly when these align with sunrise or sunset
