Trout deep at Eagle Lake

Eagle Lake - Susanville, CA (Lassen County)

Lake surface temp is 59 to 60 early in the morning. Some drifts of algae but mostly clean water in the middle and west side of the south basin. Foam stirred up from the wave action and pollen floes are also present and don’t generally cause too much havoc with lines. More algae drifted in to the east side, but a good wind will clean that up quickly. Trout are still scattered and being caught in many locations. A few moved in closer to the shoreline and shallow rock piles but we are still having more action over deeper water. The bite slowed down a little since opening weekend fish catching frenzy, but limits are still coming pretty easily. One day you might have to put a little more time in before finding the bite but it’s been pretty darn good and has depended a lot on the conditions during the day. www.eaglelakefishing.net
