The trip aboard the MIRAGE out of CHANNEL ISLANDS SPORTFISHING was a true test of persistence paying off. For this trip we had Captains Tucker and Luke in the wheelhouse, on deck were Ryan and Chase and in the galley was Andrew, after our safety briefing we were soon under way headed out to where some White Seabass were caught on thier previous trip. We stopped off at Santa Cruz Island to jig up some squid, we were fortunate enough to get plenty of squid for the day ahead. We arrived at out destination and began to put lines in the water around 5:30am, it wasn't long until we had our first hookup but as fishing goes, this one got away. We then continued to get an occasional but consistent bite on the White Seabass, we also manged to entice 3 halibut to take the bait. We stayed on the grounds until 12:30 putting 16 White Seabass and 3 Halibut on the deck. We then headed out into some deeper water to add some rockfish and lingcod to our bags. All in all it was a great day one the water and the crew were awesome in assisting those hooked up and clearing tangles quickly to insure all fish hooked we put on the deck.
