The San Pablo Reservoir Recreation Area is now open for the season with the hours being 06:30am to 05:00pm and boats being off the water by 04:00pm. The Boat Launch area is open 7 days a week with snacks and drinks available. The Cafe is also open 6 days of the week from 09:00am-03:00pm so visitors can get some hot food. February 5th Mt. Lassen planted 5,000 pounds of Trout 10% were trophy trout and Department of Fish and Game also planted 2,000 pounds that day.

The water temp has been around 50 degrees and the water elevation has risen to 292ft. The Trout has been very good even though the rain on opening weekend. Trout are being caught from the shoreline near the Main Recreation Area the Pines. Boaters have been having the best luck at the Rock wall, Farrells Landing, and Scow Canyon. Power-bait for the trout such as Rainbow, Chartreuse and Spring Green have been working as well as the Mice tails and night-crawlers inflated. With the recent rains using baits that have stronger smells will increase your chances of catching a fish. The Broken-Back Fire-Tiger Rapala and Kastmaslers are being used to catch trout on the troll.
