The Kokanee fishing is hot on New Melones Lake, the Kokanee Power derby was held this weekend and we had the best fishing this year so far. Carson Cove area to the 49er bridge was stacked with koks up to 15". We saw bigger koks at weigh in but they looked longer than 15", most of the Kokanee in our boat were fat and healthy 13 1/2 inchers. The best depth was 80 to 100' using garlic or root beer corn, Uncle Larry's Spinners in orange or pinks and Glitterbug's hoochies in the same colors worked for us but I heard people talking and it sounds like you could put any kok lures on and put fish in your boat. Our grandson Cole who is six took 5th place in the junior div. and won his first trophy. He is becoming quite a fisherman.Thank you Kokanee Power a great weekend.
