The Fish & Game Commission passed the proposed fishing regulations for the Klamath ??? Trinity with a unanimous vote. This is great news and it will defiantly help the In-River Sports fishing. From the information I received the new regulations should be posted some time around June 15- June 22. Once they are posted on the DFG web site we will be allowed to keep 2-adult Chinook Salmon and 1-Jack Salmon per day with a total of 12 Chinook Salmon in any 7-day period, with no more than 4- adult salmon over 22 inches in your possession. You may also keep 5-German Brown Trout per day with 10- in possession after your second day of fishing. You may also have in your possession 1-hatchery trout or 1-hatchery Steelhead. That is as plain as I can make it for those that have trouble reading and understanding the NEW fishing regulations. I know it was a long and arduous task but we will now be able to fish and those of you that travel long distances to fish the Trinity will be able to take home some fish if you so desire.

The Trinity has been up for the last couple of weeks so I have not been able to find out where the Spring Salmon are or what lines they are using on their way up river. Usually the salmon will take the slow inside edges of the current because it makes it easier for them. The river has started to clear up in the upper reaches as the flows drop and fishing should start to improve, as the flows get lower. I have received several requests as to what is happening in the Falls area but because of the weather I have not been able to find out what the conditions are at Grey's or Burnt Ranch Falls are just yet. Believe me just as soon as I know I will post the results on the info page. In case you did not know I have a web page that I use to post any late breaking information about the Klamath or Trinity rivers. You can reach it by going to http://dugganfishing.ath.cx/ and place a bookmark on it for future reference.

The Mid- Klamath is really starting to look good. I was up in Orleans earlier in the week to work on the "Kids Fish Lake" Fishing Derby and as I drover up-river from Weitchpec I could see that the river was coming into fishable conditions. I am sorry but I did not hear from my contact up in Happy Camp so I am not sure just what the fishing conditions are up that way this week.

Once again I would like to remind you about the Internet sports group that provides Northern California with local up to date outdoor sports news. They are called LocalNews1 and can be found on the Internet at www.myoutdorbuddy.com. Until next time------

Good Fish'en ------ Good Luck and remember: "Keep your Tip up and a tight line lands fish!"
