Paul Clouse, Ted Cribari, and Al Hurwitz trolled Los Vaqueros Reservoir (LVR) on February 12, 2026, looking mainly for Rainbow Trout. We caught five nice Mt. Lassen Rainbows in coves on the eastern side of the reservoir (see attached photo). The total weight of the five Trout was 12 pounds, averaging 2.4 pounds per fish. They all were aggressive fighters, some performing very nice leaps. The fish were in somewhat deeper water (20-35 foot water columns), and were caught 8-10 feet below the surface. We lost  two Rainbows, perhaps one a three-pounder. We were trolling RoxStar and Joe’s Flies Feathered Spinners as well as a Mickey Finn Streamer Fly. Scent was applied to the lures.

It was a beautiful day, with a mild breeze and some cloud cover. The water remained very clear, with a surface temperature of 55.5-56 degrees.

Weather permitting, we hope to get back soon. As always we thank the LVR staff for all their help.

Best regards,
Paul Clouse, Lafayette
Ted Cribari, Los Gatos
Dr. Al Hurwitz, Saratoga
