Effective Tactics

Mostly dry fly fishing, but anglers can nymph in the riffles to get some bites. For anglers dry fly fishing on the Little Truckee, use small dry flies in the size 20 to 22 range and fish the slower pools for best results. For anglers nymphing the riffles, use a small clear indicator with 4 feet of line below the indicator. Use a 4 weight rod with 9-10 ft leaders and 6X–7X fluorocarbon tippet for the best presentation.

Catch Report

Mostly smaller rainbows feeding before the winter months, but there are some decent size rainbows to be found still.
