Lake Kaweah Fish Report for 1-19-2024
The lake rose to 14 percent of its capacity, and fishing has been fair
Lake Kaweah - CA (Tulare County)
by Chad Burton and Chris Borden
The lake rose to 14 percent of its capacity, and fishing has been fair. Largemouth and spotted bass were caught on main lake points, underwater humps, and submerged rock piles in 15 to 40 feet of water. Finesse baits on a slow retrieve have been the most reliable technique for coaxing bites with green pumpkin, Ox Blood, and purple all working to fool bass. Deeper bass took blade baits, underpins, and ice jigs on a vertical presentation. Crappie anglers used small live minnows, mini jigs, and small swimbaits to land pan fish in deeper water near horse creek. Catfish anglers did well with cut baits and dip baits, and trout anglers used dough baits and various lures to land rainbows from shore. Another trout plant is scheduled for the week of January 21st.
