High winds made for difficult fishing conditions

The lake fell to 86 percent of capacity and the water temperatures dropped into the mid-sixties. High winds made for difficult fishing conditions, and launching was impossible on some days. Anglers who were lucky enough to get on the lake found good fishing for both large and smallmouth with weightless Senkos, drop shot, and Ned rigs all working for bites. The bass held in 10 to 25 feet of water along cobblestone beaches, bluffs, and points. Anglers boated plenty of bass and striper during the morning boils with walking topwater baits. Striper anglers also used trolled flies and A-rigs to land line-sides in 25 feet of water. Catfish took dip bait and chicken liver along the dam and in the coves east of the marina.
