Los Vasqueros Fishing Report
Los Vaqueros Reservoir - Livermore, CA (Contra Costa County)

Hi All:
Al Hurwitz and Chris Schmidt trolled Los Vaqueros Reservoir on November 2, 2023. It was a beautiful day, sunny, and with very little wind. The reservoir was reasonably full with excellent water clarity and a surface water temperature of around 65 degrees. The bite was off, though, with only a few Bass striking our lures. Chris managed to land one nice 1.5-2 pound Largemouth Bass pictured here, using a Joe’s Super Spinner Fly. Al lost a similar sized Largemouth close to the boat when it jumped and spit the hook. Another fish, likely a Bass, broke off a J-9 Jointed Rainbow Trout Rapala.
We spoke to others fishing who all had the same slow results. Perhaps last night’s near full moon or it now being a transition period between Bass and Trout seasons might explain the tough outing. Regardless, future cooler weather and clear water conditions should make Los Vaqueros excellent for those going after Rainbow Trout in the weeks ahead.
