Lake Nacimiento Fish Report for 10-6-2023
Nacimiento Lake fell slightly to 62 percent of capacity
Lake Nacimiento - Bradley, CA (San Luis Obispo County)
by Chad Burton and Chris Borden
Nacimiento Lake fell slightly to 62 percent of capacity, and water temperatures have been on the decline. Cope’s held their annual Customer Appreciation Tournament last Saturday and the results were good. Anglers reported five fish limits over ten pounds with spotted bass taking drop shot, shaky heads, and craw imitations. Just about anything with red flake got bit, but baitfish colors were also effective. Anglers reported a slower presentation as the most effective way to entice a bite. Small swimbaits and topwater lures scored some decent kicker fish, and deep diving jerkbaits worked for a few bites as well. It was a fun time for all with plenty of cash awards and prizes. Be sure to sign up early for next year’s tournament. White bass fell for topwater and trolled spoons, and crappie took small live minnows and minijigs over submerged brush. Catfish slurped up chicken liver and dip bait on the long soak.
