We're just a few days away from the August 1st salmon opener above Red Bluff and we're just now starting to see the holes below Red Bluff filling with King salmon!  Its very early in the season, but we now have salmon in all the areas we fish on the upper reaches of the Lower Sac.  Above average water temps in the lower river in Sacramento have likely stalled the early run of Kings, but we're finally starting to see the leading edge of this years annual fall King salmon up north.  Flows from Shasta Dam are hovering around 4,500 cfs which is at least half of our normal flows for this time of the year.  Lower flows have created some issues with aquatic grasses in the river which make some popular river salmon techniques very difficult to properly present.  Its reported that there are quite a few salmon holding above Red Bluff but that remains to be seen.  Monday's salmon opener will tell us a lot!  We still have some guide availability for this years King salmon season. Call Jaynie Goodwin, our booking service manager, at (530) 510-2925 for available dates.  Thank you!
