Pyramid Lake fell to 84 percent of capacity, and a large island has developed to the right of the launch ramp. Watch for obstructions after launching. Water temperatures remained in the mid-fifties. Striper and trout have been the to go to species for most anglers. Striper fell for cut baits, nightcrawlers, and blood worms near the marina. Anglers also fooled line sides with trolled umbrella rigs, Kastmasters, and vertical spoons. The lake received another trout plant on Tuesday, and fishing has been good. The trout gobbled up just about anything anglers threw, but dough baits, minijigs, nightcrawlers, and Kastmasters did plenty of damage. Large and smallmouth bass went for drop shot, Ned rigs, and shaky heads in 10 to 40 feet of water. Vertical spoons have been reliable bait for anglers who understand how to meter fish bottom oriented fish. Catfish anglers reported solid fishing, as Pyramid is probably the second best local fishing-hole for whisker fish just behind Isabella. Catfish ate chicken liver, dip bait, and cut baits.
