Shasta is rising slowly and still has 140' to go before it's topped off.  The water color is slightly stained and surface temps are running 48-50 degrees in most areas of the lake.  Lots of Shad are showing in most areas of the lake which is unusual, but welcomed.  Debris is becoming a factor on lake travel and for trollers.  Still plenty of areas that are free from debris, but I'm seeing more now than I have so far this winter season.  The trout are looking great, but we're seeing lots of rainbows, a few browns, and the occasional KIng depending on where we fish.  The brown fishing will improve soon, but the salmon fishing on Shasta will be slow until late spring and early summer.  Just catching some now is a good sign for summer though.  We have lots of available dates on Shasta now until March when the calender fills quickly for the brown trout fishing.  Slow rises in the lake should keep fishing conditions good for the foreseeable future.  Please call Jaynie at (530) 510-2925 for more info on our Shasta Lake fishing trips.  Thank you!
