The stripers have been boiling like crazy in several areas of Lake Del Valle.
Weather: Weather at the lake has been warm ranging in the high 70-s to 80 degrees. The water surface temperature is 77 degrees. Clarity of Water: The water is clear around the Marina and the farther you go to the Dam the better the water clarity will get. Hot spots: The hot spot has been by the Dam and Swallow Bay
What Bait to Use: Stripers- Anchovies Catfish- Chicken Liver, Anchovies, Sardines and Night Crawlers. Catfish tend to not be interested in any lures. Trout- Power bait, Worms, have been working well. Trout also love lures such as Panther Martins, Kastmaster, Roster Tails, and all types of small Spinners. But as of right now trout are slowing down a lot due to the warm water. Largemouth/ Smallmouth- Plastic Worms have been a good choice, another good choice is Jigs or Drop Shots. Crappie/Panfish-  Night Crawlers, Redworms, and little Micro Jigs have been working good as well. Crappie/Panfish- Nightcrawlers, red worms, and little micro jigs have been working good as well.
Fish plant on 8/4 from Tsai Enterprises- 600 Catfish
Paul Clouse of Lafayette, Al Hurwitz of Saratoga and Abbey Lev of Sunnyvale trolled the lake on 9/9 search for our favorite summer fish, the smallmouth bass. We caught 9 smallmouths and one striped bass using panther Martin spinners trolled 20-25 feet below the surface. We liberally applied sent to the lures. The fish were smaller than the wet before, possibly due to an intense heat wave over the prior few days as well an approaching low pressure system. Two very strong strikes did not stay pinned. Most of the fish were caught along the western shore of the restrain over abundant structure. All the fish were release. The water was very clear with a surface temperature of 75-76 degrees. We had to work hard to Cath cribs today, and fishing was very tough for outer anglers. However the sallies are out there and can be caught by different techniques. Tolling, castings spoons, plugs, and soft baits to structure and drop shooting finesse artificial baits.
