The Upper Kern has been closed due to the French Fire and all National Forest Closures through September 17th. The Lower Kern Bass bite remains very good. Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass have been going for Get Bent Baits, Roostertails and small crankbaits. Fly anglers are catching bass in some of the deeper pools with a variety of fly offerings. Catfish are being caught with worms, chicken liver and cutbait. At the time of reporting, the Upper Kern River at Kernville was flowing at 72 CFS and the Lower Kern River was flowing at 98 CFS.
