Good mixed species action is on tap at Lake Almanor, according to Doug Neal at Almanor Fishing Adventures. "The east shore is now becoming the hotspot for big rainbows from over three pounds to just under eight pounds, along with a few nice browns.", said Neal. "Threaded crawlers downrigged at 15 to 18 feet have been the ticket.

"Some impressive limits of big fish were reported in the Rocky Point area. The fish were hitting Seps plain silver dodgers with an 18-inch leader and a threaded crawler. Most of these fish were browns up to the four pound class.

"Bait fishing may be even better than trolling. Big Springs has been a good bet, with lots of 16 to 17-inch king salmon hitting anchovy tails three cranks off the bottom. There are a few of the bigger kings to over four pounds."

Neal added, "The area called ???the snag' down close to the dam has some bigger salmon happening. Anchovy tails three to six cranks off the bottom in 50 to 60 feet of water are producing fish around 2.5 pounds."
