It has been a busy 10 days of fishing great clients on the Klamath river and Lake Siskiyou. Thanks to all of you for making my time on water a blast.

The Klamath river continues to produce some fantastic Winter Steelhead fishing. The last couple weeks I have seen the fish go into full spawn mode. They have been sitting pretty tight so working the river side to side and extremely slow has been the key to getting the fish to bite. Back trolling Pro-Cure Garlic lathered 3.0 Yakima bait company maglips has been the most consistent lure and method of fishing. Fly fishing rubbed legged stones and small orange eggs under the indicator also produced some decent action one day.

Yesterday, the bite on the Klamath picked up a bit as we went 8 for 9 on the day. Many of the fish have spawned and are beginning to get hungry. The take downs on the maglips were aggressive and all the fish put up excellent battles.

Fishing on the Klamath will continue for the next couple of months as we transition from winter to spring. Storms, snow melt and rising river flows will be possible factors in the coming weeks but the fish will be here to catch.

I fished Lake Siskiyou this past Friday and Saturday. Fishing was excellent and limits of Brown and Rainbow Trout were caught both days. Friday was pretty windy and.made fishing difficult at times but it was manageable. Saturday was absolutely gorgeous with glassy water conditions and postcard picture moments.

BE AWARE THE LAKE IS LOW AND LAUNCHING A BOAT OF ANY SIZE IS DIFFICULT AND IT IS WINTER TIME IN MOUNT SHASTA FOUR DRIVE IS A MUST I LAUNCHED WITH ICE AND SNOW ON THE GROUND

Trolling gold Optimizer Jr spoons on Friday was the hot lure and Pro-Cure bloody garlic Tuna was the sent of choice. All the Trout were caught between the surface and 30 feet while trolling between 2 and 3 mph.

Saturday was different animal the fish at fish did not want anything we trolled on Friday. So into the box of tricks I went and out came the Bayrat shallow running plugs. This was what the fish wanted trolling on the surface with side planners at 3 to 4 mph. Pro-Cure threadfin shad was the scent of choice  on Saturday.

Lake fishing is a great choice this time of year so give me a call 530 905 0758 or book online at Caldwellfishing.com
