Rain will taper off today with fair skies and warming temperatures (low to mid 70's) forecast for next week. Water temperatures remained constant at 57 degrees on the surface and 50 degrees at the 20 foot mark. The water visibility decreased a little to 15 feet with some discoloration due to the run off. The water level may have dropped about 1 foot since last report, Lake level is approximately 11 feet below spill and holding.

BANK FISHING ---- Shore anglers continue to do well. Loitering planters continue to provide action in the Recreation Area long beyond the scheduled weekly plants. The hot spots are well established and haven't changed much. Hot spots are Tom Sawyer Island (particularly under the foot bridge), the Launch Ramp, Rainbow Point and the bank behind the EBMUD boathouse. Sliding sinker set ups are widely used, however silver/blue Kastmasters and black woolly buggers are also very successful right after a plant. White power eggs, maggots and power worms are the best sellers at the Marina, with night crawlers and yellow power bait also popular.

TROLLERS----Trollers luck improved last week. Reports indicate the bite has improved significantly for those able to work around the wet weather we have experienced here as of late. Limits have been the rule for many of the Trollers that had little or no luck the week before. Still no reports of any Kokanee caught lately, hopefully they are laying low feeding and getting fat. Equipment and bait the same, flashers tipped with a partial night crawler. Most are heading upstream but I did see a few working the Narrows and Mel's Cove. The Trout are still shallow; don't go too deep most hookups are at 5 to 15 feet. Some Trollers have been tying off and still fishing in the coves along the eastern shore and upstream until the trolling improves.

BASS- The South End has been was good for large and small Bass recently. There are lots of rocky outcroppings worth investigating all along the shore exposed by the low water level. Try crawdad jigs and plastic worms.

RECENT SUCCESS STORIES---Shane Swan of Elk Grove got this 9.5 lb. huge Black Bass with a 6" worm working the South End. Rich Hunt from Sacramento caught this equally large 8.5 lb. Largemouth in addition to some nice smallies ranging from 2 to 6 lbs. (not pictured). Last but not least smiling Justen Pettit of Rancho Cordova shows off a nice limit he bagged on Tom Sawyer Island using power worms. Congratulations to all-great job!

To date 44,000 lbs of good size Trout have been planted by Lake Pardee Inc. and the California Department of Fish and Game with more plants scheduled in the near future.
