Greetings from Lake Cuyamaca: Looks like we are well on the way to Spring weather. The Bald Eagles have been giving us a show this week. You birdwatchers need to take a trip up here. The eagles have been doing some fishing and ducking themselves and those of us who are lucky enough to be here have been able to study their tactics. The ducks aren't too happy when they have to "duck" for their lives tho.
CLOSING TIME VARIES ACCORSING TO SUNSET
Trout Bait: 12 inch leader, inflated nightcrawler smeared with scent, or Power Bait fished off the bottom dipped in Pautzke's Krill Gel.
Best Lures: Orange Rapala, Gold Panther Martin. Dipped in scent.
Best Spots: Lone Pine, Dike, Chambers Park, and the Buoy Line.
Notable: Ethan and Noah Fox, 5 and 9 years old, of San Diego took four fish. Each a one pounder. First fish for each. Caught at the bouy line on nightcrawlers. Flea of Descanso made a return trip this week and limited out using nightcrawlers at the So. Bouy line. Largest was two pounds. Lots of limits have gone out this week but not everybody reports in. DFG dropped in 1,200 pounds this week. Some very nice looking fish. Nature Walk: The self guided walk is 3 1/2 miles around the lake. Good bird and deer watching right now.
Free Fishing Class Saturday at 10AM. Ranger Charlie will teach Trout tactics that work here at Lake Cuyamaca. Meet at the Launch Ramp.
THE DECONTAMINATION WASH DOWN IS REQUIRED FOR ALL PRIVATE VESSELS BEFORE LAUNCH. A FEE IS CHARGED.
