Smith River Fish Report

Smith River - Smith River, CA (Del Norte County)

Despite low water conditions, the Smith River keeps kicking out steelhead every day, reported guide Kevin Brock. "For the past week we have been hooking from two to four steelhead per day, although we have to work hard for them. There is just no pressure, and we have seen only four other boats on the water all week", said Brock.

"Most of the fish have been under 10 pounds, but our largest of the week was a 13-pounder. We had Ryan Langford and Robert Stout of Chico on Tuesday, and they landed three steelhead out of four bites, with the largest just under 10 pounds. The fish are hitting on Pro-Cure roe with a pink puff ball and a no.4 Owner SSW hook rigged on eight-pound test fluorocarbon leader material."
