The weather report was calling for 15-20 knot winds and a large swell, but that did not deter us from heading south in anticipation of getting some tuna. All 16 of us boarded around 9:30pm and were greeted by Capt Doug Reed and his crew. 2nd Capt Randy us our safety breifing as the bait was being loaded for this 2 day trip. After the briefing, weheld our ever popular raffle for some great prizes from Catchy Tackle , Seaguar , and Fishworks Products/a> . Bobs Sporting Goods also donated a $50 gift certificate for the Jackpot winner. We were soon headed south and enjoying a smmoth ride with the current and swell to our backs.
We started trolling around 6:30am with a handline and we were soon bit, but not the right kind. We started out the regular troll rods and started out rotations and were soon hooked up on some hungry skipjack and small yellowtail. We found one small patty with some small yellowtail and dorado who wanted to play for a while. Capt Reed spotted a submerged patty, as soon as we rolled up on it and got some bait in the water, about half the boat hooked up with the right kind. Yellowfin were soon coming over the rail, we had a consant bite from 10am until around 5pm, when we hit our limit of 160 yellowfin. Day two turned out to be a slow day and we only managed 2 Albie and one dorado.
