Well after a great time at the Sacramento ISE Show, we're back on Shasta Lake chasing big trout!  Today we fished the McCloud arm which was a little off color and held some minor amounts of debris.  Before I move on to the report though, there are some BIG pieces of wood floating around so be careful when running the lake.  Bay Rats in orange or chartreuse were getting bites at about 20'.  Spoons on side planers with some gold and orange spoons were getting equal attention.  I'm always looking for bigger trout and today wasn't an exception.  a couple 3-4 lb. rainbows and a 5 plus lb. brown made for a solid day of fishing given the conditions.  Shasta Lake is up 30' from the summer low of around 100'.  The creeks are running and the water in the McCloud and main body is still a solid shade of green.  With a persisting dry pattern in the coming days, Shasta will likely clear a bit and we should see some pretty good fishing.  The moon is big, and with the clear sky at night, I'd hold out for a bite later in the day if you want to see the most action during your day on the lake.
