GENERAL CONDITIONS

The weather this week here at Lake Del Valle has been beautiful with morning temperatures in the low to mid-30s and warms up into the low-60s mid-day. The surface temperature of the water has dropped drastically this week to 55 degrees. The hot bite this week has been trout with many anglers having success.

Del Valle will get a plant of rainbow trout from Mt. Lassen every week in December, so fishing at Del Valle should be great!

CATFISH

For catfish most anglers are using either anchovies, chicken liver or cut mackerel. Fish points and rock walls.

TROUT

For trout most anglers are using either Powerbait or mice tails. I also recommend using either Kastmasters or Powerworms. If you target trout make sure you fish shallow sandbars.

BLACK BASS

Black Bass are a good target this time of year, most anglers like to use soft plastics (swim baits, robo worms, Senkos, etc.) I would also recommend using either a crank bait or a top-water lure (Heddon Spook, pencil poppers, etc.) Look for fallen trees, rocky points and tule patches.

STRIPED BASS

Stripers have disappeared with no reports of anglers having any luck. If you do target stripers, I recommend jigging with a Kastmaster or hair-raiser. I also recommend using big trout swimbaits.
