Lake Oroville cohos

Lake Oroville - Oroville, CA (Butte County)

6-12-2008

This week saw Lake Oroville receive a stocking of some 363,000 juvenile coho salmon at the Lime Saddle boat ramp, according Department of Water Resources biologist Eric See. Lime Saddle was chosen due to the water temperatures being slightly lower there.

The juvenile fish average about five inches long, and this is about double the usual quantity of fish stocked in Oroville. This is the entire allotment of cohos for the year, and no more will be stocked this autumn due to the scheduled maintenance on the Feather River Hatchery.
