I haven't posted many reports on Keswick Reservoir this season, mainly because I've been too busy fishing other waters.  Today we started out on the lower Sac, but with a big drop in flows and a lot of debris in the river, my techniques for catching rainbows just didn't produce like usual.  We pulled off the lower Sac and ran up to Keswick Reservoir to see if we could salvage our day.  Keswick was in great shape and there was actually some moving water up by Shasta Dam to fish.  Back trolling plugs and bait paid off immediately and just minutes after dropping lines, it was fish on!  We caught and released several nice rainbows before heading back down towards the boat launch.  We had some time to kill so we decided to troll some 3.0 Mag Lip plugs, covering a lot of water.  Both gold and black/silver flake plugs produced trolling 100'-120' behind the boat.  For those of you who might take interest in fishing Keswick Reservoir, you should know there are numerous hazzards up by Shasta Dam and that area should be approached cautiously.  Water levels and flows fluctuate by the hour, sometimes concealing large boulders just below the waters surface.
