The weather this week here at Lake Del Valle has been beautiful with average temperatures in the mid 80's and peak temperatures in the high 90's. The surface temperature is slowly dwindling down dropping to 76 degrees this week. Fishing has been tough this week with anglers having to put in long days to get some success. The best bet on catching fish this week would be catfish.

Catfish have been doing well this week with anglers having success especially with our recent plant of 750 LBS on 9\6\17. Most anglers are catching them on chicken liver and night crawlers. I would also recommend trying cut mackerel around fallen trees and rocky points.

Striped Bass have slowed down a little this week with few anglers having success. Early morning is probably your best time to try and fish some boils. If you come upon a boil use top water lures (whopper plopper, spooks, pencil poppers) or shallow running jerk baits. When fishing a boil don't just throw your lure into the school and hope one hits it, pick out a certain fish that's blowing the surface and land your lure right on top of it.

Black Bass are slow this week as well. Coves and rock walls seem to be the ticket this week, fish with small curly tail or paddle tail swim jigs, small top water lures or my favorite the senko worm.
