Winter Steelhead and Trout fishing on the upper Klamath is hot. The fish are feeding like crazy right on just about everything. We been landing no less than 20 fish and as many as 40. The sizes of the Steelhead and Trout have been in the 1/2 to 7 pound class. Today, my guys Aaron and John boated 40 fish, included were 5 nice adult Steelhead in the 17 to 20 inch range, and weighing 2.5 to 3.5 pound. I have been seeing more adults Steelhead over 20 inches, my son Conner landed a hog Friday afternoon while backtrolling a nightcrawler behind a Luhr Jensen jet diver. This Wild Steely has been eating well, weighing 8 and or possibly 9 pounds. Many of the fish are in the 14 to 20 inch range weighing 1 to 4 pounds, but those 5 plus pound fish are there and waiting to be caught. On the fly side, swinging prince nymphs or glowbugs, copper jons, under an indicator have been working extremely well.
