My good friend Guy Ives and I fished the Klamath River this past Friday and found excellent action on the Steely/Trout. We fished the upper section of the river, from the Hatchery to the Klamathon Bridge, and between the two of us, we caught and released 21 fish. The Steely/Trout are in great shape and fighting hard, many of the smaller fish (9 to 14 inches) fought as well as the larger fish (15 to 20 inch). Bouncing bait on the bottom and the Hotshot worm combo caught all our fish on this day. Overall this week, two trips on the river, netted over 40 Steely/Trout, out of 60 plus hook ups. We had the river practically to ourselves this week, as we saw only 2 other boats. The weather has warmed up considerably this weekend, nearing 80 degrees on Saturday. Spring is now really here; within the next 30 days we should start seeing the Salmon flies begin to hatch.
