The trout action has greatly improved over the past weeks. Trout fishing
has been fair to good over the past few days with the rainy weather. Jerry
Goldsberry of San Ysidro landed the largest trout of the week with a nice
6 lb. 10 oz. Rainbow trout that hit on a night crawler. Jerry was using 2
lb. test line and was caught at the Buoy line. The best baits have been
rainbow and green power bait, night crawlers and small gold Kastmasters
proving best. The Buoy line and Trout Cove areas have been seeing the
best action. Try using light line (2 to 4 lb.), water bobbers and fishing
from the bottom of the lake for better success. The last stock was planted
February 13, with 1200 pounds of rainbow trout. Dixon is planting
another 1200 pounds of rainbow trout the week of February 25???29.

No catfish were reported this week. With the recent rain, this usually
turns the bite around. The catfish are mostly hitting on cut mackerel and
night crawlers. The "BEST" action is on the shoreline at the northeast
corner of Whisker Bay and Jack Creek Cove area next to Pier #3.

The bass action has improved this weekend. A local bass anglers' group
(10-15 anglers) fished over the weekend reported very good fishing in the
cove areas around the lake. Most of the bass were in the 2 to 3 lb. range
with near limits. The bass were caught on any length of black and purple
or brown/purple plastic worms and plastic crawdads. No big bass were
reported this week.
