Overall it was a tough week due to multiple days with high winds but we still had a half dozen quality fish photographed at the general store. Those diehard anglers who were able to overcome the weather had success and hooked some keepers. All the fish reported to the store were in the 3 pound range.

Catch of the Week: Rene Solano from San Diego, CA was using a Kastmaster when he landed this stout 3 pound 8 ounce Rainbow along the South Shore.

Other notable catches this week:

Greg Yudt from El Segundo, CA with a fat 3 pound 5 ounce Rainbow that he landed while fishing the Shore Shore. Greg was using a Nightcrawler.

Steve Borden Sr. of Riverside, CA landed an excellent catch while posted up along the Shore Shore. Steve landed a 3 pound 4 ounce Rainbow using Nightcrawlers.

Santiago Mascorro of Downey, CA caught two nice Rainbows. The largest was 3 pounds and the second was 2 pounds and 9 ounces. Santiago was using a Kastmaster and he was fishing at the Inlet.

Raymond Escarzega from Orange County, CA caught a 3 pound Rainbow using Rainbow Powerbait.

Tactics/Bait: Once again, Inflated Nightcrawlers and Powerbait were the top baits this week. The top Powerbait color was Rainbow. Some of the most productive lures were Thomas Buoyants, Tasmanian Devils and Kasmasters. In the creek try Salmon Eggs, small spinners or Marvel Flies. The hot location this week was the South Shore. Alternative locations to try would be the Inlet, North Shore, Jetty/Outlet Area and Hangman's Tree.

Here is a list of other baits/lures that can be productive: Panther Martins, Tasmanian Devils, green or brown Marvel Fly Lures, Kastmasters, NeedleFish, Roostertails, and garlic scent on Powerbait.

Here is a list of recommended flies:

Dry Flies: Adams, Female Adams, Cutter's Caddis, Elk Hair Caddis, Stimulators, Black/Red Ants, Sierra Bright Dot, Royal Coachman and Hoppers.

Streamers: Wooly Bugger (black, brown, olive, or green), Mutuka (black, brown, olive, or green), Hornberg, and Muddler Minnows.

Wet Flies(Nymphs): Prince Nymph, Flashback Pheasant Tail, Hare's Ear, Zebra Midge (red and black), Copper John (red and copper) and San Juan Worm (brown or red).

Other Resources: View our Convict Lake Fishing Map and Fishing Rig Suggestion brochures. Both brochures are available in the General Store.

Weather: The forecast has a slight chance of rain/snow at the start of next week. The temps starting Monday will be in the low-50's with partly cloudy skies thru the middle of the week. Low will be in the low-30's. Here is the National Weather Service link that is usually quite accurate: 7-Day Forecast Convict Lake.
