Lake Berryessa has been very good with the spoon bite taking off for the last month with fish feeling the coming of winter. Most of the bass have been working bait schools in the main body in 30 to 45 feet of water with some as deep as 50 feet. These have been nice fish, (smallmouth, largemouth and spotted bass), up to 5 pounds. Blade Runner 1 3/4 oz. spoons in Morning Dawn, Chrome Green, and Shad all in the UV colors. Drop shot rigs have also been working with Robo Worms in Aarons Magic and Morning Dawn fishing them on points dropping into deep water. The thermocline has been hovering in the 35 to 45 foot range with the surface temp as high as 71 but has been dropping into the mid 60’s with this latest weather. Look for this lake to be good for a while as these fish get ready for winter feeding on shad and crawdads.
